Minor Hurling

Our second fixture in the Minor Hurling Championship resulted in another draw, this time at home to the amalgamated St. Michaels. Playing into a stiff breeze Kilpeacon performed excellently in the first half with good scores from Nicky Morrissey and a goal a piece from Dean Fanning and Liam Carey. This just left us trailing by two points at the interval. Despite dominating for large parts of the second half, failure to take scoring chances kept the game in the balance right to the end. Five second half points gave us a one point advantage heading into injury time but a late St.Michaels point ended the game all square.

Panel: Eoin Enright, Darragh Griffin,Seán Fitzgerald,Evan Keogh,Evan Moloney,Colm Carey,Cormac Flanagan,Tim Moloney,Nicky Morrissey(0.2), Liam Quirke(0.1),Liam Carey(1.1),Thomas Keogh,Dean Fanning(1.1),Conor Burke(0.1),Craig McNamara(0.1),Conor Griffin,Damean Kearney.

Minor Football

Our minor footballers went into the exam break on a positive note following a hard fought win over St.Pats on Thursday last. The preceeding downpour left underfoot conditions heavy but both sides coped well and produced a great game. A brace of points by Micheál O’Neill gave us a good start and while St. Pats replied a Craig McNamara goal followed quickly by a Liam Quirke point gave us a two point half-time advantage. Second half scores from M.O’Neill, David Cregan and C.McNamara followed.

However we did not turn out possession into scores and St. Pats fought back scoring 1.2 without reply. Kilpeacon rallied again and a Conor Burke goal and points by Damean Kearney and C.McNamara gave us a four point lead into injury time. Resolute St. Pats never gave up and a goal in the last play of the game brough our margin back to one point.

Panel: Eoin Enright, Evan Moloney,Tim Moloney,Liam Carey,Nicky Morrissey,Cormac Flanagan,Colm Carey, David Macken, Seán Fitzferald,Thomas Keogh,Conor Burke(1.0),Liam Quirke(0.1),Craig McNamara(1.2), Micheál O’Neill(0.3),Conor Griffin,Darragh Griffin,David Cregan,Dean Fanning,Damean Kearney(0.1), Evan Keogh. Best of luck to all panel members taking exams at present and in June.

U14 Hurling

Our Feile Team continue to prepare for upcoming match against Templeglantine at end of May. We played Ballybrown recently in a challenge match. While Ballybrown were stronger on the day, we hurled well and the Team continues to make good progress.

On behalf of all of the Club , we want to congratulate Karl Moloney on being picked on the County u14 Hurling squad. Karl is Captain of our team and leads by example . He is a credit to himself and his family and has shown great Commitment and Loyalty to his club.

U-14 football

Best of luck to our newly amalgamated Kilpeacon U-14 football team who will play their first game in the U-14 football championship this Wed 22nd May, away to Hospital/Herbertstown.

U-12 Football & Hurling

We are facing into the second phases of the Hurling and Football leagues having won all our games to date . We closed out our first round games with a comprehensive win over Mungret in the Football league with a score of 4:08 to Mungret’s solitary point. On a night where conditions were quite difficult following torrential rain all day our team played great quality football and worked together very well as a team unit .Once again we had a number of scorers including 2:01 from Sam , goals from Richard and Colin and points from Cathal , Sean etc it is great to see a spread of scoring across the panel.

Now we move up a level in both the Hurling and Football leagues with much tougher matches ahead and the next couple of weeks will tell us where we are and what work lies ahead of us. It is very important that all players are available for the next couple of matches and get to training also.

At this time of year , burn out and injury is a big possibility as there is an awful lot of different activities happening ,including community games activities , schools activities and also GAA .So please talk with your child and make sure they do not over do things. It is important that all on the U12 panel prioritise these matches over matches with other age groups. This U12 panel are in a position to show all other clubs that we are a force to be reckoned with and with a 2 year plan and program whereby we would aim to be top in the county at U14 Level in 2 years time we need to stick together for both training and matches this year.

Finally , best of luck to some of our panel who will be playing in the U11 Community games hurling matches over the coming weeks and also to Sam , Colin and Conor who are going to Athlone next weekend for the All Ireland Tag Rugby Finals having recently won the Munsters .
