Grounds (history)

The Site
In 1988 the club purchased a site of almost 8 acres in Skehanagh for £30,500. The site which was originally owned by Dinny Mangan was bought from Matthew Richardson, who had used it to grow strawberries. This site required some leveling work and reseeding, the provision of boundary walls, and entrance etc. and this work was completed in 1991 with the first match played on the 28th May 1991. The pitch was blessed by Fr. Liam Enright c.c. and the first match was in the Junior Football League against Lansdowne Rovers with Crecora winning by 3-6 to 2-8.

The first hurling match was against Na Piarsaigh on the 30th May 1991 with Crecora again winning on a score of 4-15 to 2-6.

The purchase and development of the pitch cost £75,000 but the sale of 3 sites together with local contributions enabled to debt to be repaid in late 1996.
