Crecora Manister vs Galbally – Match Report

Match Report
Intermediate football league competition
Crecora Manister versus Galbally
Crecora Pitch, Saturday 25th March 2023

In our first Intermediate game of the season we faced senior team Galbally at home on March 25th.

Galbally got off to a flying start with a point scored in the first few minutes of the game.
After a few near misses, Crecora Manister responded with a point of our own.
However, Galbally upped the tempo and scored their 1st goal in response.
As opening nerves settled, the pace of the match increased and Galbally being a senior team had seven points to their credit at half time which Crecora Manister made them earn through their increased physicality.

In the second half, Crecora Manister scored 3 points in response to 3 goals and 8 points from Galbally.
Conor Kirby scored a fantastic goal from play, well supported by his team mates.
In addition, a penalty was awarded in Crecora Manister’s favour, which we scored.

Galbally had that extra edge on the day and the match ended with Galbally as winners on a score of 4-15 to Crecora Manister’s 2-4.
Full  credit to our lads on the day, they put in a great performance.

There was a large crowd in attendance at the GAA pitch for registration in what were dry weather conditions.
We were honoured to have our own Cathal O Neill and Dearbhla Egan to start proceedings and some very competitive teams following.
The course took us along the Road from Crecora to Manister, ending in the Community hall for refreshments.

A special that you to all who helped on the day, especially the Organisers, Marshalls and Ladies Committee.

With all proceeds going to Charity; Milford Hospice, both clubs are delighted with the large attendance and this event will become a form fixture in the calendar for years to come.

Con and Annie Kirby Memorial stake 2023
The 10th Annual Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake is back on in Limerick Greyhound Stadium, with the First and Second Rounds taking place on Saturday 25th March and Saturday 1st April respectively followed by the Semi-Finals on Saturday 8th April and Saturday 15th April. The 2023 Final will be held on Friday 21st April.
This is one of the world’s top Juvenile racing events and is sponsored by JP and Noreen McManus in honour of her parents who were well known greyhound owners and trainers having operated in the old track in The Markets Field in Garryowen.

One of the highlights of this annual event is the ongoing partnership with Limerick GAA, which has seen clubs from across the city and county get involved in the action due to the nominator competition. The winning greyhound’s assigned GAA club wins a nominator prize of €10,000 and a free benefit night at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.

A night at the dogs is always a great night out and the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake gives our Club members a great opportunity to meet up and enjoy a night together in the fabulous greyhound stadium.
We’ll see you there over the next 5 weeks!
