Club Development Plan-Suggested Contribution Request

Club Development Plan-Suggested Contribution Request

Fundraising efforts continue to enable the provision of the Community Walking Track at Crecora Manister GAA Pitch.

In addition, the Sports Capital Grant scheme deadline for applications is the 1st March next and the clubs intention is to apply for grant aid towards a large, enclosed and lighted Astro Pitch All Weather Facility located at the hurling wall at Crecora Manister GAA pitch.

Such a project will require the Club to demonstrate, as part of the grant application process, the level of “own funding” that can be put towards the project to ensure its delivery, so the importance of the Club generating funding for the project is therefore crucial to the application process. While grant funding is vital, we estimate that we also need to raise at least €60,000 locally to complete these projects.

The Clubs are suggesting a contribution of €300 from each GAA and Camogie Club family, which would enable us to complete the proposed Walkway, and the Astro Pitch if grant aid is approved for this project. We understand that it will not be financially possible for every family to contribute €300 and stress that this is a suggested amount only.

The GAA Club was also successful in obtaining a Certificate of Approval from Revenue in recent weeks whereby the club can claim Tax relief on any individual donations made in excess of €250 to the project. The Tax relief is at a rate of 31% on the donation amount and a form will need to be completed by the individual in order for the club to avail of the Tax refund.

In order to give our Sports Capital Grant application the best chance of success, we are asking Club families for their contribution before Friday 19th February 2021.

Please note that ALL funds raised will be used for improvements to facilities at the pitch for use by GAA and Camogie Clubs, and funds generated will not be used for any other purpose.

To contribute, please lodge directly to our Development Fund Account with Bank of Ireland:

Alternatively, send a cheque, payable to “Crecora Manister Development Fund”, to either Pat Byrnes, Ronan MacMahon or to Mark Leahy, Chairperson of Crecora Manister Strategic Development Committee (087-2941627) or any member of the Club Executives.

Club Notes 1st February

Condolences
This week the club would like to express its condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the passing of John Fitzgerald, late of Lantern Hill, Skehanagh, Crecora and formerly of Caher Road, Mungret.

John was heavily involved in Crecora Manister GAA Club for over four decades, from captaining our hurling team in the eighties to presiding as Club Secretary in the nineties, John also stayed involved with coaching and the committee subsequently.

John’s sons Mark & Simon both played with the club and his daughter Kelly lined out with Crecora Camogie Club. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Eileen, his children Mark, Simon and Kelly, and his extended family and friends.

Thanks to everyone who supported throughout the year. With 50% of the entrant fee going back to our club, this is a vital fundraiser for the running of the club. The first draw of the 2021 CLUB Limerick Draw is scheduled for 27th March.

Club Facility Development Plan:
Following the welcome announcement of Leader grant funding from West Limerick Resources, totalling €36,295.59 towards the Community Walking Track, the focus now turns towards the preparation of a grant application under the Sports Capital Programme.

The Sports Capital Grant scheme was announced by the Government before Christmas, and the deadline for applications is the 1st of March next. Our club’s intention is to apply for grant aid towards a significant project at Crecora Manister GAA pitch, which will benefit all our GAA and Camogie players and families.

Such a project will require us to demonstrate, as part of the grant application process, the level of “own funding” that can be put towards the project to ensure its delivery, so the importance of the Club generating funding for the project is therefore crucial to the application process.

Please support our fundraising efforts either by sending a cheque, payable to Crecora Manister Development Fund, to Pat Byrnes or Mark Leahy, or by lodging directly to our Development Fund Account with Bank of Ireland:
