County Minor 13 a Side Hurling Championship Semi Final:

JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS:
Our junior B footballers continue to train away ahead of their county semi final. In this semi final they will be up against either Knockaderry, St. Senan’s, Camogue Rovers or our neighbours Fedamore. Time, date and venue of that semi final is still to be confirmed.

MINOR HURLERS:
Our minors came up just short against Glenroe in the county 13 a side semi final last Friday night. In a game played under lights in Knocklong, we were unlucky to lose Edwin Wixted to an ankle injury after ten minutes and we wish him all the best with his recovery. Despite this setback, our lads continued to battle on and we went in at the break 1-7 to 0-7 ahead. We were reduced to twelve men at the start of the second half and Glenroe hit us with two quick goals, one being a penalty. Great fighting spirit was shown by the team throughout and we were unlucky to come out the wrong end of a 2-12 to 1-13 scoreline.
Team: Evan Keogh; Páraic O’Neill, Tomás Connolly; Karl Moloney, Cian Leahy, Jake Loughran; Barry Fitzgibbon, Edwin Wixted; Gary O’Connell, Michael Bateman, Shane O’Connell; Damien Kearney, Conor Kirby; Mark Shanahan, Donnacha Connolly, Conor Kirby, Shane O’Connor.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALLERS:
Our under 13 footballers produced a powerful display to overcome Askeaton-Ballysteen by 7-13 to 0-2 to qualify for the division 2 county final where they will meet Galbally. Time, date and venue for same has to be confirmed.

County Under 13 Football Championship Division 2A:

County Under 13 Hurling Championship Division 2 Final:

If pride of place went to our junior footballers last week , this week it is the turn of our U13 Hurling and football Panels with the Hurlers winning the County title against Garryspillane on Saturday and the footballers qualifying for the county final with an emphatic win over Askeaton last evening.

UNDER 13 HURLERS:
On Sat 10th of Oct 2015 our U13 hurlers played in the Division 2 Championship Final decider against Garryspillane in Mick Neville Park. It was a perfect Autumn day for a hurling match and we were up against a team that had won this grade twice in the last 3 years so we knew that we had to play from minute 1 to the final minute at full pace. Coming off a great win in the semi final away to Newcastlewest, we knew we were ready as a team.
Our goalkeeper Rory Hannon and full back line of Rory Quirke, John Bourke and Patrick Dolphin were excellent and did not give up a goal especially when the pressure came on in the last 5 minutes. We went 2 points down at the start but keep battling and Colin got an excellent goal to bring us into the lead which we never let go of .. Our half back line of Chris Shanahan, Darragh O’Keeffe and Eoghan O’Connor fought for every ball and hurled a lot of ball up the field.
The mid field pairing of Cathal O’Neill and Ciaran Kennedy delivered a lot of good low ball into our forward lines. Half forwards were Fergal Egan, Sam Riordan and Dara Nash and were all tenacious in the tackle and played very well winning frees and scoring. The full forward line of Niall Khan, Colin Coughlan and Cillian O’Brien also battled for every ball and kept the ball in the scoring zone. Jack Duggan, John O’Donnell, Brandon Nash, Rian O’Byrne and Paul Mullins all got on the field, to play their vital part in the win.
Winning anything is very difficult. This victory is the result of the commitment of a panel of players and not just the guys who play on the day, and 3 of our panel, Luke Bovenizer and Stephan McPartlin & Conor Hannon did not get on the pitch but kept urging the team on and are as much a part of the winning as the guys on the pitch.
The U13 Cup was accepted by joint Captains Cathal O Neill and Colin Coughlan. We also thank Garryspillane for a fine sporting game. Final Score Kilpeacon 3-7 Garryspillane 0-2.
Team Mentors: Noel Kennedy, Paddy O’Neill, Tim Egan, Ger Riordan, Colm Coughlan, Noel Quirke Stephan Meskell, Henry Nash

JUNIOR B FOOTBALLERS:
Our junior footballer’s great campaign continues. Last Saturday 11th October they beat Ballybricken by the slimmest of margins in a cracking game in Fedamore. Final score was 3-12 to 3-11 in our favour. They now progress to the county semi final where the opposition, date and venue are all to be confirmed.

MINOR HURLERS:
Our minor hurlers’ long awaited county semi final takes place this Friday 16th October in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale under lights at 8pm. They meet Glenroe and your support would be greatly appreciated.

UNDER 8s:
Our under 8 hurlers played a fun blitz in the fantastic facilities in the North Campus of UL. A great day was had by all the youngsters.
