U-14 Hurling/Feile
Limerick GAA hosted Feile 2013 over weekend of 5th to 7th July. Kilpeacon GAA (Fedamore GAA and Crecora Manister GAA ) hosted Eoghan Ruadh GAA Club from Dungannon, Co Tyrone and Crecora Camogie Club hosted Truagh Camogie Club from Co Clare.

We were blessed with brilliant weather for the Weekend and with a Marquee in place , it led to a great weekend for all. It was great for the players to meet players from Tyrone .The Parade was well organised through Limerick City on Friday night. As well as hosting Tyrone players with local families, the Tyrone Coaches were also hosted and well entertained over the weekend. We had a Disco for all players in South Court Hotel and “rumour has it “ that the Tyrone coaches were singing well into the early hours.

A big thank you to Fedamore GAA, Crecora Manister GAA ,Crecora Camogie Club , Host Families, Field Committee, Sponsors, Fellow GAA and Camogie Members, all those who brought food and helped with catering and especially to the players for making this a weekend to remember. It was truly a Community event .

On the playing front we played well and all players in the squad got game time in every match. We lost at home to Eoghan Ruadh .On Saturday we played two matches in Ballingarry. Ballyduff were too strong for us but we had a number of excellent performances from Colin Coughlan and James Conheady in particular. Our final game was against Granagh Ballingarry. They had suffered a few injuries in their earlier matches but still put it up to us. This was truly a ding dong battle .Scores were level at half time 2: 3 each. Karl Moloney despite jet lag played very well .We had great performances from every player in the squad and despite being a point down in the latter stages we battled hard and Conor Godfrey scored a great goal to put us 2 points up. The game ended with a win for Kilpeacon on a score line of 4:3 to 2:7.

U-12 Football & Hurling
We have a hurling match on Thursday evening 11th away to Murroe Boher which is a must win for us if we are to continue our progression up the ranks in this league. It is very important to us to know who is not available on Thursday evening due to holidays etc.

We also have a football match the following week Thursday 18th away to Mungret and again will need full squad availability for this game so we can continue our 100% winning way in the football.

To all our players involved in the feile over the weekend , well done to you. It is important to remember that the U12’s had 5 regular starters on the Kilpeacon U14 team with 8-9 squad members . Our aim is for our current U12 squads in both Hurling and football to be aiming to be coming out of Limerick in 2 years time and representing our county . this is very possible looking at our current squad and we need to keep talking to and reminding our kids that this is our aim.

U8 & U10 Football
Crecora Manister GAA Club currently field underage football teams at all competitive levels from U12 to Minor. The club would like to ensure we continue to field football teams at all underage levels so we have commenced football training for U8 and U10s on Sundays from 6pm to 7pm.

We would also like to hear from anybody who would like to help out in any way, however small, with coaching football at this age group. For further details contact Noel Kennedy 086-1589256

Summer Camp
Crecora/Manister GAA annual Summer Camp took place last week at the GAA field. This was a great success once again with 70 kids attending.

Donal O’Grady (Limerick senior hurling) was there to meet the kids on the Thursday. He presented the kids with their kits and posed for photographs and signed autographs as well as answering questions from the kids including what was his toughest match ever! Thanks a million to Donal and to all of the coaches and helpers who voluntarily gave of their time to help insure a thoroughly enjoyable summer camp for all.

U-14 Hurling
Kilpeacon U14’s continue their Training in advance of Feile. All our players have been delighted to get their gear and are really looking forward to Feile.

They played Kildimo/Pallaskenry in a challenge match on Sunday 30th June at Crecora pitch. This was a good preparation for Feile with the team putting on a good display. The sides were level at 0-4 each at half time and continued to battle right to the very end despite going down by a couple easy goals early in the second half.

U-12 Football & Hurling
We had a week off on the League front this past week as with only five teams in our Football group , this was our Bye week. Next week with both the Cul Camp and Feile competition taking place , we also have a week off from the League in the hurling therefore there is no match this coming Thursday evening.

To make up for this and also to keep our lads in focus and in shape we have arranged a challenge match against our near neighbours South Liberties on Monday evening 1st July at South Liberties Pitch. Meet at 18:45 for a 19:00 throw in.

On Monday evening 24th June, we welcomed Ahane to Crecora for a challenge game for our U12 Hurlers. Because this was a challenge game we used this as an opportunity to try some players out in different and un-familiar positions . In a game played over 3 by 20min sections , it was a great way to get plenty of game time for all our squad and everyone who turned up played a minimum of 30 mins which was good experience for all . The first 20 mins went Crecora’s way and the second 20 saw Ahane slightly on top . the 3rd 20 mins saw our determination and fitness show and we ended up winning the game on a score line of 4:7 to 3:6 . Its important to remember that while winning this game was not the ultimate aim of the match , the players on the field themselves decided in the final 20 that they wanted to continue their winning run. Dara Foley pulled of a great save to keep us in the game and a great fearless display in Midfield by Ciaran Kennedy in the last 20 all helped towards a wonderful team effort by all. Well done guys.

Some of our U12 Panel are also playing on the U14 Feile panel with games coming up this coming weekend. It is a credit to all players who are still U12 , some still U11 being capable of stepping up and playing against 14 Year olds , and also a credit to you the parents and also to their coaches for everyones efforts throughout the years.

I just want to wish all these players the best of luck next weekend and also wish the best of luck to the full Feile Panel of players and coaches next weekend. This will be us hopefully in 2 years time , both in hurling and football. The important thing to remember is that with our current squad , the ability of the players is there , the belief of the coaches is there so we just need all the players and parents to have that belief also.

Summer Camp
Crecora/Manister GAA annual Summer Camp is taking place this week from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th July at the GAA field.

Donal O’Grady (Limerick senior hurling) will be there to meet the kids on Thursday. Thanks to all of the coaches and helpers who are voluntarily giving of their time to help insure an enjoyable and successful event for all.

Feile
Crecora Manister GAA Club along with Fedamore GAA Club, competing as Kilpeacon and Crecora Camogie Club are host clubs for this years u14 Feile. This is a great honour for our clubs and the GAA ground in Crecora will be the centre of activity on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th July. The parents of the U14 players are acting as hosts for the weekend and it will be a busy time for them looking after players from our visiting teams. We are asking older players and parents of other children in the club to help out over the 2 days in ensuring the club provides a huge welcome to our guests from Dungannon from Tyrone and Truagh from Clare. There are many ways in which you can help – carparking at the ground, bringing sandwiches\buns\etc. on Sat, serving tea\coffee or even turning up to support our Hurling and Camogie teams. Making yourself available for even just 1 hour can make a difference. contact Pat Byrnes or Ronan Kirby if you are in a position to contribute and what times you are available. The plan is to draw up a schedule to ensure the load is shared evenly and to give everybody a chance to enjoy the games as well.
