JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS
Our Junior Footballers got their City Championship off to a winning start on Thursday last 30th June when overcoming a strong Monaleen side in Rhebogue. Wet conditions made handling difficult but nonetheless both sides contributed to a competitive, sporting match. Playing with the elements, Crecora-Manister dominated the first quarter and thanks to key goals by Damian Kearney & John Buckley, we lead by 2 – 3 to 0 – 2.
However, from there to the interval, Monaleen got into the game to give a half-time score of 2 – 5 to 0 – 5. As expected, with wind advantage, Monaleen had more possession the the second half but resolute defending and a smart save by Shane O Connell, restricted them to long range points. They closed the gap to 4 points by the 50th minute but from there to the end, we regained supremacy in the midfield / half forward area and a sequence of excellent scores from play by Darrach Skelly, Conor Burke and Mike McCormack gave us a winning margin of 2 – 13 to 0 – 11.
Panel on the night: Shane O’Connell, Evan Moloney, Seán Monaghan, Thomas Connolly, Cathal Scully,Tim Moloney, Shane Moloney, David Macken, Cathal Monaghan, Gary O’Connell, Conor Burke(0 – 5), Damien Kearney(1 – 0), John Buckley(1 – 1), Mike McCormack(0 – 4), Micheál O’Neill(0 – 2), Darragh Skelly(0 – 1), Peter Power, Karl Moloney, Mark Shanahan, Eoin Kennedy, Robert Sweeney, Stephen Keating, Rob Henehan. Our next championship match is on Thursday 14th July against Na Piarsaigh.

JUNIOR HURLERS
