Heart & determination shown by every single Player

The Kilpeacon football team narrowly lost out on the honours in this U14 Division 2 County Final coming up short against a strong Ahane team on Saturday 18th October.

The conditions on the day were not good for the game of football with a gale force wind blowing the length of the field. Both teams were affected by this wind and while Kilpeacon went into a nice lead after playing with the wind in the first half.

Unfortunately a couple of wasted chances were what proved costly in the end as Ahane took advantage of an even stronger wind in the second half , clawed back the deficit and put away the crucial scores when required to prevail in the end.

We can take nothing away from the heart and determination shown by every single player on the Kilpeacon team who left everything out on the field and while there was heartache and upset at the end , this is by no means the last we will see of this fine group of players with hopefully many more big days to come.

Many thanks to the big support on the day from parents , relatives and club members who turned out to support the team .

Also a massive thanks to all the coaches . Underage GAA in the Kilpeacon and Crecora Manister GAA clubs is alive and kicking and showing great promise for the future.

Congrats to Ahane on their victory .

U13 football played Monaleen last Tuesday night 14th October and earned a result against a strong Monaleen team. There were great displays throughout the team in very dark conditions which both teams had to contend with.

On the night a draw was probably the fairest result although Kilpeacon had the winning of the game but with a lot of players tired after a tough weekend of sport , the draw was well deserved.

There is one more game for the U13s who will play Murroe this coming Thursday evening 23rd October in Murroe so hopefully we can end the season on a winning note.

U14 Footballers contesting County Div 2 Final this Sat 18th Oct

Our U14 footballers will contest the County Div 2 Final this coming Saturday 18th October in Claughan GAA field at 2pm coming up against Ahane.

With a panel of 28 players all of whom have played a part in this campaign throughout the summer months , this is the culmination of lots of hard work and tough training sessions and matches.

Under the expert guidance of our coaching team with a flavour of Kerry , Dublin and Limerick football pedigree, this team has nothing to fear going into this final game.

Having played Ahane earlier in the season and coming up short, Kilpeacon know that this will be a tough test and a close encounter but hopefully all the hard work will pay dividends.

Being the last final that the Club will contest this year we hope that all the club players and coaches along with parents will come along to support this great bunch of players on Saturday.

The Premier Minor football title eluded Tory Gaels following a narrow loss to Fr. Caseys on Sunday 12th October in Newcastlewest.

The loss of some key players proved too much of a hurdle to surmount on this occasion.  The experience of our opposition was an  important factor and they settled well into the game in the first half.

While a well taken penalty by Conor Burke and points by Cormac Flanagan and Jamie Shinners kept us in the game in the opening quarter, two quick fire goals by Fr. Caseys  gave them a six point interval lead.

The opening half also witnessed two superb saves by Shane O’Connell.

Following the break Tory Gaels dominated the middle third with commanding performances from Ryan O’Shea, Mark Reidy, Cormac Flanagan and Seán Fitzgerald.

Continued pressure and well taken scores by the Shinners brothers, David Macken and Liam Quirke reduced the deficit to three points.

However, Fr. Caseys defended well and were a constant threat on the break and kept the margin  to the end, giving a final score of 2 – 12  to 1 – 11

On behalf of all the coaching staff we would like to thank all the panel for their commitment during the season.

Upcoming U13 Football match vs Monaleen

U13 Football match this coming Tuesday night 14th October vs Monaleen.

This match will be played in Monaleen under lights and will throw in at 6:30pm.

In our first match we came up against a very strong Galbally team who had many of their U14 panel who won the Div 1 Final playing and we came up short on the night.

However there were some fine displays from our team and when we did go forward and use the ball well we produced some very nice scores.

Well done to Killian O Brien who made his debut on the night and accounted well for himself and John burke who pulled off some magnificent saves
