There was a very good attendance at our Club AGM on Monday 28th November in Manister Community Hall. It was great to see a mix of adult players, coaches and committee members.
Club Secretary Ger Riordan opened the meeting, welcomed all and facilitated proceedings effectively to the end of the meeting.
Here are some of the key points from the AGM:
Bord na nÓg Secretary, Tom O’Keeffe and Club Secretary Ger Riordan delivered their annual reports, both acknowledging the great work by the players, coaches and support from the players’ parents through the year.
John Power our Club Treasurer presented the Club’s Annual Financial Statement which showed a healthy balance in the bank when you take into consideration the increasing costs of running our club.
Mark Leahy Chairperson of the Strategic Development Committee reported on what was a landmark year for our Club and Crecora Camogie Club with the delivery of the 55 metre fenced and floodlit all weather pitch. Mark reflected on the modest plans outlined in the 2019 Strategic Development Plan and what has been achieved in a relatively short time since then. Mark praised the invaluable input from Aidan Malone where his expertise and personable style resulted in the Supplier delivering a finished product to a top quality design specification and build standard.
The benefit of the all-weather facility was a highlight in each of the reports delivered during the AGM, it is a great amenity for the GAA and Camogie players from 6 years to adult and means that our Team do not have to go elsewhere to do their winter training.
While it was acknowledged that there were a number of people in the Strategic Development Committee, all present were in agreement that the all-weather pitch would not have been delivered and paid for without the hard work of Mark Leahy and the huge amount of time he put in to drive the design, build and fundraising.
Donnchadh Ryan Chairperson of the Health and Wellbeing Committee reported on the creation of the Community Walking Club and the great use of the Walking Track during the “Every Step Counts” challenge and the weekly walk every Tuesday evening.
Pat Byrnes Club Chairperson welcomed all in attendance and thanked all players, coaches, committee and sub-committee members for their time and invaluable contributions though the year.
Pat was proud to report that the goals he set at last year’s AGM have been delivered by our Club:
- Appoint a Bórd na nÓg sub-committee and Chairperson to drive the underage forward
- Establish a Community Walking Group to grow the Club by providing for the community.
- Progress with the Club’s Strategic Development Plan to deliver an all-weather facility
President Gerry Molony stepped down and John McCarthy was duly elected.
The following outgoing members were returned uncontested:
- Chairperson – Pat Byrnes
- Secretary – Ger Riordan
- Treasurer – John Power
A full list of the club officials will be uploaded to the Club web site in the coming weeks.
