Our Under 11 attended a Blitz in Doora Barefield on Sat 25th @ 3pm. The boys played 3 games against a combination of host teams. In challenging conditions we played some great hurling, we got some great scores and defended really well against driving wind and rain and very capable host teams. Overall, a great display from our boys.

Match Reports
Our Hurlers were in action last Saturday night in the 5rd round City West Intermediate League game home to St Kierans. We started the game in second place in the table and consolidated our place with a narrow one point win in an exciting game. We conceded the first score but a free converted by James Conheady settled us into the game. He added a second soon after and we extended our lead with a goal by Cormac Flanagan. The 2 teams traded points but points from Edwin Wixted, Oisin O’Byrne and Thomas Shanahan added to our lead. Our good form continued throughout the first half and Cormac added a second goal so by half time we led on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-7. Oisin add-ed another goal soon after the restart to put us in a commanding position. The concession of a number of frees gave St Kierans a foothold in the game and their accuracy from deal balls helped them narrow the deficit. We were struggling for scores at this stage but a point from Rian O’Byrne and a free from James kept our noses in front. St Kierans continued to press and a goal brought them right back in the game. They rattled off a number of points to level the scores as full time ap-proached. Possession was vital at this stage and from a puckout we gathered the ball and won a free near the half way line. James stepped up to score what proved to be the winning score. There was still time to play but our defence stood firm to ensure we did not concede further. Final score was 3-13 to 1-18 in our favour.
Our U8s hosted a football blitz at home on Saturday morning. Teams included South Liberties, Bally-bricken & Ahane. Next Saturday will see them host a hurling blitz.

Hard luck Niall Conheady and all involved with the Celtic Challange hurling team who were defeated by Dublin at the weekend.

Match Reports
Out Intermediate footballers closed out their League campaign this week with 2 matches, first up was a home game against a strong Galbally side who were top of the table coming into this game and who we have met on a number of occasions over the last few years in championship. This was a fine performance from our lads who showed huge improvement from previous games and took the game to Galbally for the full 60 Mins. While we ended in defeat, great pride and learnings were taken from the game which ended on a score line of 3-07 to 1-08.
Then on Saturday we welcomed Pallasgreen to Crecora and started out very strong with 1-03 to no score on the board after 15 mins. Pallasgreen then took control of the game putting up the next 9 scores without reply – we rallied well in the closing stages but could not bridge the gap. Great credit to the 16 players who togged out, especially the dual players who played their 3rd full game in the space of 7 days. The game finished on a scoreline of 1-07 to 2-11.
Our focus now turns to championship with our first game at the end of June. Best wishes to Richard on a speedy recovery from a knee injury. Squad for the 2 games as follows – Shane O’Connell, Darach Scelly, Rory Hannon, Paddy Gardner, Tim Moloney, Francis McAuliffe, Evan Moloney, Cormac Flana-gan, Con Kirby, Cathal Monaghan, Ciaran Cusack, Donnacha Connolly, Sam Riordan, Mike McCor-mack, Richard Murphy, Eoghan Quinn, Conor Kirby, Colm Cassidy, David Macken, Damien Kearney. Thanks also to the coaches and selectors and our physio!.

Our U8s hosted a football blitz at home on Saturday morning. Teams included South Liberties, Bally-bricken & Ahane. Next Saturday will see them host a hurling blitz.

Celtic Challenge
Congratulations to our own Niall Conheady all involved with the Celtic Challange hurling team who defeated Antrim yesterday in the All Ireland Quarter final Semi Final by 6-21 to 1-10 in Abbottstown, Limerick now meet Dublin next Saturday in the Semi final. We wish Niall and all the team the very best of luck.

Gort Super 9’s Champions
Congratulations to Cian Hickey and Sam Collins who as part of the ArdScoil Rís U15 team won the Gort Super 9’s Competition on Tuesday. In the group they beat Coláiste Eoin of Dublin, De La Salle of Waterford and Seamount of Galway. Having topped their group, they beat St. Kierans of Kilkenny in the QF. The Semi-Final they saw off the challenge of Kilkenny CBS. They had an impressive final against St. Colemans of Cork winning on a final score of 5-9 to 2-10. Sam was awarded ‘Save of the Year’ in the Competition.
