Congrats to our Scór na nÓg County Champions

Our Club had an extremely successful outcome in early December competing in the County Finals of Scór na nÓg, winning County titles in three different categories.

On Wednesday 3rd December in Ballybrown our Quiz Team of Karl Moloney, Dearbhla Egan, Eoin Moore and Cian Leahy won the Scór na nOg County Table Quiz title beating Na Piarsaigh and Mungret into 2nd and 3rd place respectively. They will now go on to the All-Ireland Finals in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on February 14th.

Well done also to the Crecora Camogie Table Quiz team who were Teagan Nolan, Cara Quinlan, Sophie Boland and Megan Ryan who also did very well on the night and will be underage for this quiz for many more years.

On Friday night 5th December both our Figure Dancers and Instrumental Music groups took part in their Scór na nÓg County Finals in LIT. Our Figure Dancing team of Caoimhe Sheehan, Amy O’Connor, Emer Kennedy, Olive Wixted, Jo Burke, Eimear Mahon, Órla Byrnes and Sara Gilmartin won the County Final once again beating off Ballybrown, Pallasgreen and Na Piarsaigh. A special word of mention as well to Aisling Coughlan and Aoibhinn Leahy who were injured and could not take their places on the team.

Also on the night, our Instrumental Music group consisting of Niamh Keyes, Olive Wixted, Amy O’Connor, Shane O’Connor and Cian Leahy won their first County Final as a group having been beaten last year at the same stage. They came ahead of our neighbours Croom, Ahane and Dromcollogher/Broadford. Both our dancers and musicians will be back in action on January 3rd in Askeaton for the Munster semi final where they will be up against the Clare and Kerry Champions.

It is a great achievement for a small club like ours to have won three out of the eight disciplines of Scór na nÓg in the County and well done also to the dancers’ mentor Muirne Bennis and our musicians’ mentor Jill Collins and thanks to Norah O’Connor and Paul Dillion for all their work with the Scór na nÓg through out the year.
