Kilpeacon U16 Hurling Championship V Ballybricken 6th May 2013 in Crecora.
Kilpeacon line up. Ian DeCapitani, Paraic O’Neill,Cian Leahy,Mark Shanahan, Karl Moloney, Tomas Connolly, Jake Loughran, Barry Fitzgibbon, Edwin Wixted, Garry O’Connell, amian Kearney, John Blake, Stephen O’Donovan, Evan Keogh and Shane O’Connell, Michael and Richard Bateman
Final Score Kilpeacon 2-6 Ballybricken 3-9.
This was a great game of Hurling where Kilpeacon just came up short. After a super start going 3 points ahead thanks to Damian Kearney and Edwin Wixted
But 2 soft goals in the space of as many minutes brought Ballybricken back into the game. Kilpeacon stayed in touch with great points from Barry Fitzgibbon and John Blake..
3 points down at half time then right back into it thanks to a 65 from Edwin Wixted which went straight into their goal. Ballybricken then got another goal and Kilpeacon nearly got a goal from Shane O’Connell who then scored a point. Evan Keogh then pulled on a ball that flew into the back of the net. It was a tough hard game. The Kilpeacon work rate especially in the backs and quality of play in general was a joy to watch but needed a bit of luck. Each of the Kilpeacon team gave a man of the match performance including the Batemans who came on in the second half. Conor Kirby was somewhat of a loss after breaking a bone in his foot playing Hurling for his school.
Scores. E. Wixted 1goal and I pt, E.Keogh 1 goal,D Kearney 2pts, B.Fitzibbon,S.O’Connell and J.Blake 1pt each.
Next game V Bruff in Crecora on Friday 10th May at 7pm.
Note: U-16 Football vs Na Piarsaigh away on Monday 13th May is off due to Na Piarsaigh withdrawing from the football.
U-14 football
The U-14 football championship will commence on 22nd May with an away game vs Hospital/Herbertstown and in preparation U-14 football training for our newly amalgamated Kilpeacon team has already resumed on Sunday evenings at 6pm at Fedamore pitch. There has been a good turnout for the initial training sessions and we look forward to an even greater turnout this week and to a successful summer for our U-14 footballers this year.
U-12 Football & Hurling
This week we held our Hurling training session on Monday night in Fedamore and by all accounts we had a great turnout.
The session was led by Colm Coughlan who gave all the players a great workout which is important in keeping everyone focused and fit.
Last evening we had our second U12 Football League match. We travelled to Pallaskenry to play a combined Kildimo / Pallaskenry team. In an entertaining game during which some players played in positions they are not usually used to , it is fair to say that bar a 10 minute spell in the second half , we dominated the game throughout. I cannot mention all players individually but want to mention both Goalies last night , Colin and Sam. It’s great to have strength from the back and both played extremely in what would not be their natural positions
Final score was Crecora/Manister 4-6 , Kildimo/Pallas 1-4
On Sunday evening 12th May we are getting a guest coach out from the Limerick Games development Association , Noel Hartigan , to take a football session with special emphasis on the tackle , movement off the ball etc. I would like for all on the football panel to attend this session and make special effort to do so.
I think that any of you that have been at some of the recent matches can see that this current U12 squad are strong and if we can keep these players together over the next couple of years , we could all see a return and there is a definite potential to be playing and competing at the highest level with this panel going forward , a lot of this depends on us the parents to continue to help and encourage the players and let them know that we are proud of them and their team work , training ethos etc. There are always pressures of playing other sports , playing matches at different age-groups etc but it is very important that players put most focus on their current age group team and attend those training sessions so that all others on the panel can see the full panel ethos is being practiced by all.
Thursday 9th …Hurling League Crecora V’s Caherline 18:30 away game…
U-6/U-8 Hurling
On Friday 3rd May Crecora Manister hosted a very successful U8 hurling blitz.
Teams attended from Claughaun and Ballincurragh Gaels, with 3 teams from Crecora Manister.
All players got plenty of game time with 9 matches played in total across 3 pitches.
It was great to see the Crecora Manister players showing improvement from last year and all players wanting to contest the ball.
The Crecora Manister teams were made up of players ranging in age from 5 to 8 years and it was great to see them all putting their skills into practise and enjoying themselves.
The rain came towards the end of the second round of matches and rained throughout the final round of matches.
At the end the Players had just time to gather their refreshments, unfortunately we did not get time take a group photograph.
Thanks to all the coaches and parents for their assistance and for supporting the young players.
