Junior Hurling
Our Junior team, played Mungret in the City League and came away with a well-deserved win 3-11 to 0-9 . One of our goals was straight from the training field and it is good to see the coaching paying off on the scoreboard. We also got some great points and overall it was a workman like display.
We limed out as follows: S Keating, J Burke, N Moloney, P Sullivan, G Kelliher, S Moloney, P Walsh, R Hourigan, C Scully, C Skelly, E O’Shea, D Walsh, S McDermott, B Relihan, S Keyes, P Murphy, N Carmody.

Our 2nd game in the City Junior League was against St Pats and on a windy, wet evening we lost this game by 3 points. The game was start stop with many frees and these were pointed with great effect by the St Pat free taker.

We limed out as follows: S Keating, J Burke, N Moloney, P Sullivan, N Carmody, S Moloney, P Walsh, M McCormack, C Scully, C Keyes, E O’Shea, R Hourigan, S McDermott, B Relihan, Damien Walsh, Colin Kelly, P Murphy.

Unfortunately in this game our center back Shane Moloney, received a nasty hand injury and we wish him a speedy recovery and that he will be back in action before the championship.

Our next game is the City league against Na Piarsaigh on Sunday May 19th at 4pm in Caherdavin.

U-16 Hurling
U16 Hurling Championship Kilpeacon V Bruff . Venue Crecora, Date 10th May 2013 at 7pm. Full time Score Kilpeacon 02-07 Bruff 02-12.

Kilpeacon Team: Ian De Capitani, Mark Shanahan, Cian Leahy, Paraic O’Neill, Jake Loughran, Tomas Connolly, Karl Moloney, Edwin Wixted, Barry Fitzgibbon, John Blake, Garry O’Connell, Evan Keogh, Shane O’Connell, Damien Kearney, Stephen O’Donovan & Michael and Richard Bateman.

Yet another great game of Hurling where again Kilpeacon needed one or two lucky breaks but that didn’t happen.

After a great start with points from Edwin Wixted a 65 and a great point made by Karl Moloney and scored by Edwin. We then allowed Bruff back into the game with goals but full of determination Kilpeacon went on with 3 super points from Shane O’Connell one could have been a goal. Other points from Barry Fitzgibbon and Evan who also made a well taken goal by Damien Kearney. Bruff stayed in touch with another goal. Then like in our last game Edwin Wixted scored a goal direct from a 65. That left the half time score Kilpeacon 02-07 Bruff 02-05.

The second half was poor from a Kilpeacon point of view who battled very hard and should have had 3 goals but in the end only scored a point by Edwin. Our backs again put up a great display but Bruff added 7 points to win.

Next U-16 Hurling Match Monday 13th May in knocklong V Garryspillane

U-14 football
The U-14 football championship will commence on 22nd May with an away game vs Hospital/Herbertstown and in preparation U-14 football training for our newly amalgamated Kilpeacon team has resumed on Sunday evenings at 6pm at Fedamore pitch for the past several weeks with a good turnout at each of these. Last Sunday we teamed up with the U-12 footballers for an excellent training session with Noel Hartigan the Limerick City Games Development manager which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. With just one week to our first game we need everyone in attendance for next weekend’s training session.

U-12 Football & Hurling
Last week we played our final game in the first round of the U12 hurling League against Caherline . In difficult conditions we had a great panel performance and we were able to get every player a minimum of one half of game time. By winning this game we have maintained our 100% record so far this year and have finished top of our group.

What this means is that for the next round of games we will face the top teams from 3 other groups so we expect to have much tougher matches coming up for the second phase of this league.

In the match against Caherline it was great to see so many players get on the score sheet and it would be remiss of me not to mention Sean Kirby and Eoghan O Connor who weighed in with 2 goals each and Fergal Egan who shattered the back of the net also. Well done to all scorers and also all those who played their part from Goals right through to Forwards .

Next up is our final first phase group game against Mungret in Football in a home game next Thursday evening at Crecora Pitch. In preparation for this game we will have a guest coach out from the GDA to help us polish up on some football skills. So Training for football continues on Sunday at 6pm in Crecora. I hope all players can attend this training session.

It would be great to have big support for our final home game of this round so please spread the word and try to attend if you can.

Thanks again for your continued support in getting the players to training and matches . It is much appreciated.
