All Support Welcome – Thur 14th Aug v Fedamore at Claughan

Our Junior Hurlers played Na Piarsaigh in the 3rd round of the City Championship on Sat August 10th.   In slippery underfoot conditions we came out on top by 0 – 21 to 0 – 18. Na Piarsaigh started better and built up a nice 9 points to 4 lead.

Our team settled more in the 2nd half and switches in the forwards, both positional and subs paid off and we scored some good points from play.

The panel has a nice blend of youth and experienced and if they can continue to work together as a panel they have a bright future.

This team play the Junior All County Hurling League Division 3 Final this Thursday evening in Claughan against Fedamore.

Blitz against teams from Cork & Waterford

U12 Hurlers
Our U12 hurlers had the opportunity to play in a blitz in Semple Stadium Thurles in early August in the latest of the Summer activity days for U12 squad.

This was an enjoyable day for the players and great credit due to the Joe Reddington, Noel Hartigan, Ger Downes and the others who organised the activity days.

We played 3 games in a blitz format against Douglas & Cobh from Cork and St. Patricks from Waterford.
Our lads put in great performances in all 3 games and afterwards were given a tour of the stadium by Tipperary Hurler Cathal Barrett.

Man of the match performance from Donnacha Connolly

U16 Hurling Division. 13 a side. Crecora Manister V Tournafulla 19:30 August 4th 2014 in Crecora.

Crecora were quick out of the blocks and made a blistering start and continued to set the pace for the entire game. A great point from almost the left hand side touchline after only 20 seconds from Edwin Wixted was a sign of things to come. John Blake then scored 2 great goals with fine assists from Shane O’Connell and Conor Kirby. Edwin scored another point before Richard Murphy who had a great game scored a lovely goal.

This left the halftime score Crecora Manister 3 – 2  Tournafulla 1 – 1.

The second half was a super battling performance as Tournafulla tried to get back into the game and a big turning point was a brilliant save from Ian de Capitini to deny them a goal. That seemed to inspire Crecora who pointed from Michael Bateman and 2 more from Edwin. Then when Shane O’Connell scored a fine goal after catching a super delivery from Evan Keogh our inspirational Captain, we knew the game would only have one outcome.
Cian Leahy broke from the backs and knocked over a great point and John Blake got his hat trick with a goal any forward would be proud of to leave the full time score Crecora Manister 5 – 6 Tournafulla 1 – 2.
This match showed us the value of having 3 of our U14’s team play with us as Richard Murphy, Shane O’ Connor and Donnacha Connolly all gave sterling displays of wonderful first touches, movement and a passion for the game that was a joy to see.

Donnacha gave a man of the match performance with a diehard attitude and hunger for the game.

Team:
Ian de Capitini, Tomas Connolly, Paraic O’Neill, Donnacha Connolly, Cian Leahy, Evan Keogh, Edwin Wixted, Michael Bateman,
Richard Murphy, Shane O’Connell, Conor Kirby, Neil Heffernan, John Blake and Shane O’Connor.

U12 Football v Mungret

Our 12 footballers played the latest game in the U12 leagues against Mungret on thursday 31st August in Crecora.
This was a well contested game played in a good spirit and our lads showed a big improvement from the earlier encounter between the same 2 teams.
Mungret were on top in the first half and 2 goals helped them to a half-time lead.
We started well in the second and 2 early points from Fegal Egan and Cathal O’Neill brought us right back in the game but we conceded a goal which set us back.

We fought back again with points from Stephen McPartlin and Cathal O’Neill and John Burke also brought off a great diving save to keep out a penalty but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.

Team on the night was Sam Riordan:

Ciaran Kennedy, John Burke, John O’Donnell, Jack Duggan, Cathal O’Neill, Stephen McPartlin, Darragh O’Keefe, Patrick Dolphin, Paul Mullins, Chris Shanahan, Rian O’Byrne and Fergal Egan.
