MINOR HURLERS:
Our minors continued their rich vein of form of late with a 6-10 to 4-6 win over Dromin-Athlacca last Tuesday. Our lads were slow to settle and went in at the half time break 3-5 to 2-1 behind. However our lads produced a powerful second half display to run out winners by 6-10 to 4-6. They now await the third place team in the other group who will be our opponents in the county quarter final.

MINOR FOOTBALLERS:

UNDER 21 FINAL:
Congratulations to the Limerick under 21 hurlers who captured the county’s fifth All-Ireland title at this grade with a 0-26 to 1-7 rout of Wexford at Semple Stadium Thurles last Saturday night. The quality of the Limerick performance and the subsequent pitch invasion by fans will live long in the memory of Limerick supporters. Inevitably several members of this side will go on to play senior with the county and they hopefully will be part of a team to bring the Liam McCarthy home to Limerick in the not too distant future. MINOR HURLERS:

Our minor hurlers welcomed top of the table Bruree to Crecora last Tuesday night in the fourth round of the 13 a side championship. This was a highly competitive entraining hurling match that Crecora won to put them now in contention for a playoff spot.
It was a real team effort from all the players who showed great heart and spirit to keep battling when Bruree came back at us hard in the second half after we looked comfortable enough at half time leading on a score line of Crecora 1-13 to Bruree 1-7. We had strong performances all over the pitch and Michael Bateman had a super match scoring 1-5. He had great help from Edwin Wixted who scored 0-9, Gary O’Connell’s tally of 1-1, Shane O’Connell and Damian Kearney who scored 0-2 each and a goal from Donnacha Connolly.
Our goal keeper Ciaran Humphreys made some important saves at vital times in the game and our back line battled hard when it mattered.
Final Score was Crecora/Manister 3-19 Bruree 4-9.
Team: Ciarán Humphreys; Paraic O’Neill, Tomas Connolly; Jake Loughran, Cian Leahy, Karl Moloney; Barry Fitzgibbon, Edwin Wixted (0-9); Gary O’Connell (1-1), Michael Bateman (1-5), Shane O’Connell (0-2); Damian Kearney (0-2), Conor Kirby; Subs: Mark Shanahan, Evan Keogh, Donnacha Connolly (1-0), Michael Fitzgerald, Shane O’Connor and Thomas Shanahan.
Our next game is against Dromin-Athlacca on Tuesday 8th September at 6.30pm in Crecora.
Your support as always is welcome.

MINOR FOOTBALLERS:

Crecora Manister gave a fine footballing display against Kilteely-Dromkeen last Friday night with great performances right across the team especially from Michael Bateman and Karl Moloney who covered some amount of ground during the game. Gary O’Connell and Robert Grear also had fine games along with Paul Collins our top scorer. We had our biggest turn out to choose from and we chalked up a big score from the chosen 13.
Our scores came from Paul Collins 2-3, Damian Kearney 1-3, Shane and Gary O’Connell 1-2 each, Michael Bateman and Robert Grear 3 points each and Mark Shanahan 1 goal and a welcome return to Mark who has been side-lined with an injury for most of the summer. The final score read 6-16 to 1-5 in our favour.
Team: Robert Sweeney; Tomás Connolly, Cian Leahy; Donnacha Connolly, Paraic O’Neill, Karl Moloney; Barry Fitzgibbon, Michael Bateman (0-3); Paul Collins (2-3), Gary O’Connell (1-2), Robert Grear (0-3); Shane O’Connell (1-2), Damian Kearney (1-3); Subs: Eoin Kennedy, Conor Kirby, Peter Boohan, Jake Loughran, Michael Fitzgerald, Mark Shanahan (1-0), Tim Moloney, Ciaran Humphreys and Shane O’Connor.
This win has qualified us for the county semi final against Ballylanders which will take place in a few weeks time.

UNDER 14s:

Our under 14 hurlers were narrowly beaten by our neighbours Patrickwell in the division 1 playoff on a final scoreline of 2-12 to 3-7. They will now have home advantage against Na Piarsaigh in the shield semi final on Monday 14th September.
Our footballers meanwhile await their division 2 semi final against Ballyhoura Gaels (Effin, Staker Wallace, Blackrock) with a time, date and venue for that game to be confirmed.

UNDER 12s:

Last Friday night, our u12 hurlers played their end of season finals out in UL with 2 games against Adare and Ballybrown in UL North Campus. A great night was had by all and this was a fitting end to a good season.

Stone pickers make quick work of the job

We’d a grand turn out this morning (Saturday 5th September) to pick stones from the stretch of ground at the lower entrance into the pitch.
A big job was done earlier in the year to clean up this area and the job will be finished off in the coming weeks.
With the stones picked and the weeds sprayed, the ground will be harrowed, raked and seeded in the coming week.
Once the grass comes up it’ll be easier to keep it tidy with a run of the mower.

It wasn’t the first time some of this crew had picked stones, there was a lot of experienced stone pickers in the group.
The weather was lovely, the sun was shining, and there was healthy bit of banter going.
The work was done in just over an hour due to all the hands on the job.

Thanks to all the guys who helped out, you’ll see them in the photos below.
Missing from the photos are Pat & Padraig Byrnes who left early to go to Patrickswell for the U14 hurling match and Neal & Con Kirby who arrived after soccer training to find the job already complete.
