Match Reports Intermediate Footballers

Crecora Manister                             2-10

Glin                                                  0-06

Our intermediate footballers headed to Ballingarry on Friday evening to play Glin CLG in round 4 of the Griffins Coaches Intermediate football championship. In a must win game following 3 defeats on the trot our players had a point to prove to show that they deserve to be playing Intermediate football. Glin won the throw in and immediately went at our defence but to a man they set the platform from the off, thwarting Glins attack, great turnover and we went the full length of the field and scored the opening point through Conor Burke. Scores were traded with Glin, 2 a piece in the first 9 mins   before Rory Hannon put us 03 to 02 up followed by a fine score from Ciaran Cusack. Our defence  continued to lay the platform for our remaining scores in the first half including an opportunistic goal from Rory who was quick to pounce on a mistake by the Glin keeper and rounding out the half with another Conor Burke point to go in at the break 1-05 to 0-05 up. The second half started with the    expected Glin period of sustained pressure but special mention goes to Paddy, Con and all the backs with Tim our captain leading by example with tenacious pressure, quality turnovers and once again laying the platform for our forwards. Further scores from Conor, Rory and a superb point from Corner back David Macken sealed the second half 1-05 to 0-01 and the game finished on a scorline of 2-10 to Crecora to Glins 0-06 points.  We break now for 2 hurling games before our final group game in a  couple of weeks. Panel on the night, Shane, David, Tim, Paddy, Evan, Pa , Con, Cathal M, Mark, Sam, Cathal O’N, Ciaran, Conor, Cormac, Rory, Colm, Tom and Stephen.

Limerick U15 Arrabawn Cup Final Champions

Congratulations to Cian Hickey and Sam Collins who were part of the Limerick U15 team who beat Galway in the Semi Final and had a big victory against Cork in the Final of the Arrabawn Cup.

Congratulations to the Limerick U15’s and Well Done to our two Crecora Manister boys.

Match Reports Junior B Hurling

Crecora                                         0-16

Ballybrown                                 3-23

The Junior B team squared off against Ballybrown in the first round of the championship on a dry but windy Sunday evening. After losing the toss, we faced the challenge of playing into both the wind and a strong Ballybrown side in the first half. Frees/scores from Steve McDermott and Conor Burke and Liam Quirke kept our scoreboard moving, but we found ourselves trailing 2-14 to 0-6 at halftime, with a tough task ahead in the second half.

With the wind at our backs, we hoped to turn things around, but Ballybrown struck an early goal that dealt a heavy blow to our comeback efforts. Despite this setback, we pressed on with scores from Ciaran Cusack, Brendan Power, Damien Kearney and Shane O’Connell. Conor Burke continued his fine form, adding some exceptional points from center back, starting from Steve Keating in goals. In the end, the final score read Ballybrown 3-23, Crecora 0-16. It wasn’t our day, but we’re already looking forward to the next game.

Match Reports Junior A Premier Hurling

Crecora                                         1-14

Kilteely Dromkeen                    1-16

Our Hurlers were in action last Friday evening in the 2nd round of the County Junior A Premier Hurling Championship against Kilteely Dromkeen which was played in Caherelly.  This was a keenly contested game which was decided by a late goal by Kilteely Dromkeen in a dramatic finale. We had got off to the best possible start with an early goal from Chris Shanahan. Conor Kirby added a point before our opposition got off the mark with a point. We added to our total in the first half with points from     Cormac Flanagan, Chris, James Conheady and Mark Shanahan to leave the half time score of 1-7 to   0-9 in our favour. We extended our lead with scores from Padraig Byrnes, Cormac and Cathal O’Neill but by the middle of second half there was the minimum between the teams. Despite scores from James and Cathal, we found ourselves a point down as the game entered injury time but our lads showed great commitment in winning a free which Cathal scored to leave the teams level. From the puckout we won the ball and delivered to Mark Shanahan on the left hand side of the pitch who scored to put us in front with time almost up. There was still time for one last attack and                   unfortunately for us it ended with the concession of a goal to leave the final score of 1-14 to 1-16. This was a tough way to end a great battling performance by the team who now have a number of weeks to prepare for the next round. Match Reports Junior A Premier Hurling

Crecora            2-23

Doon               2-13

Our Hurlers were in action last Saturday evening in the 1st round of the County Junior A Premier Huring Championship against Doon which was played in Caherconlish.  We started the game             defending the goal at the dressing room end. Doon were first on the score sheet but we settled into the game early and were level with the aid of a free by Cathal O’Neill. We scored a succession of points from Cathal, Edwin Wixted, Mark Shanahan and Cormac Flanagan to establish a lead half through the first half.  Doon added a goal to reduce the deficit. From there to the short whistle both teams exchanged scores with James Conheady and Conor Kirby adding to our total to leave the half time score of 0-12 to 1-8 in our favour. Doon added another goal early in the second half to establish a 2 point lead but we responded immediately with points from Chris Shanahan and Padraig Byrnes. A shot from distance rebounded from the post and Chris was on hand to finish to the net.  Our defence stood firm as Doon responded and Ger Kennedy made a couple of vital saves to enable us to keep our noses in front. We finished the game strongly with the last 5 scores including a goal from Padraig Byrnes to seal our victory on a scoreline of 2-23 to 2-13. Next game is next Friday 9th V Kilteely        Dromkeen.
