UNDER 21 HURLERS:
Our under 21 hurlers Tory Gaels are now into the county A final after victory over West champions Croagh Kilfinny last Tuesday in Ballyagran. It was point for point early on with both teams taking some time to suss each other out. Croagh struck first for a goal though however and took a 1 – 5 to 0 – 4 lead after twenty minutes.
However, a brilliant goal from wing forward Edwin Wixted brought us back into the game and we were level at half time 1-6 a piece. We were the stronger side in the second half and some lovely points from Conor Laffan eventually had us five clear with ten minutes to go.
Despite a late rally from a resilient Croagh side, we held out for a place in the county final on a score of 1-15 to 1-12.
They will now play Murroe-Boher in the county final on Saturday 25th April after they beat Mungret 1 – 12 to 0 – 10 in the other semi final on Sunday evening.
Team:  1. Mark O’Kelly (Croom); 2. Kevin Laffan (Croom), 3. Ciarán Cregan (Croom), 4. Evan Moloney (Crecora); 5. Tim Moloney (Crecora), 6. Mark Reidy (Croom), 7. Peter Cregan (Croom); 8. MINOR HURLERS:

Our minor hurlers went down to a heavy defeat to Croom in the first round of the County minor 13-a-side hurling championship.
We had a number of inexperienced hurlers playing on the night and a number of soft goals in the first half didn’t help our cause.
We made a better fist of it in the second half and had some nice points from Edwin Wixted, Conor Kirby and Michael Bateman. However, these scores didn’t stop us from going down to a heavy defeat.
Team: Paul Collins; Jake Loughran, Cian Leahy; Páraic O’Neill, Edwin Wixted (0 – 10), Donnacha Connolly; Karl Moloney, Mark Shanahan; Conor Kirby(0 – 02), Tomás Connolly(0 – 01), Michael Bateman(0 – 01); Sam O’Donnell(1 – 00), Michael Fitzgerald.

UNDER 21 HURLING
Pride of place this week goes to our under 21 hurlers (Tory Gaels) who won the South A final with a 1-16 to 0-17 point win against Bruff in an exciting final at Ballyagran.
The game was certainly a game of two halves as our lads got off to a great start in the opening half with some lovely points from Edwin Wixted, Eoin O’Farrell and Micheál O’Neill and a fine tally of 1 – 9 from Conor Laffan.
We were thoroughly in control of the game and led at half time by 1 – 15 to 0 – 06. The second half was a different story and a Conor Laffan point was our only score of the second half as Bruff piled on the pressure.
As the game drew to a close inside the final ten minutes, Bruff struck the post and crossbar but thankfully for us they could not get that vital goal.
There was a great feeling of relief as the final whistle blew and shortly after Peter Cregan was presented with the JJ Kenneally Cup. Our lads will now go on to the County semi final on Tuesday night 14th April, where they will play the West champions Croagh-Kilfinny at 6.30.
Team: 1.Mark O’Kelly(Croom); 2.Kevin Laffan(Croom), 3.Ciarán Cregan(Croom), 4.Evan Moloney(Crecora); 5.Tim Moloney(Crecora), 6.Mark Reidy(Croom), 7.Peter Cregan(Croom); 8.Cormac Flanagan(Crecora), 9.Ryan O’Shea(Croom); 10.Edwin Wixted(Crecora)(0-3), 11.Eoin O’Farrell(Croom)(0-1), 12.Micheál O’Neill(Crecora)(0-2); 13. Liam Quirke(Crecora), 14.Conor Laffan(Croom)(1-10), 15. Seán Iarla Cahill(Croom). Subs: Jordan Ryan(Croom), Eoghan Cregan(Croom), Conor Burke(Crecora), Aaron Burke(Croom), Daragh O’Farrell(Croom), Cian Leahy(Crecora).

JUNIOR HURLING
Our Junior Hurlers played Ballybricken-Bohermore at home in a challenge game last Saturday 11th April. The team was short several players and went down by five or six points on the night.
Nevertheless it was a good exercise and the juniors are now down to play Patrickswell next Sunday 19th April at 12 noon in the Well.

MINOR HURLING
Our Minor Hurlers, like the Juniors, played Ballybricken Bohermore in a challenge game over the weekend. The game was played on Sunday April 12th in Caherelly.
It was our first outing of the year and we were a bit off the pace compared to Ballybricken. It was a good run out all the same ahead of the upcoming championship and it was good to play a fifteen-a-side team playing at a higher level than ourselves.
Team: Shane O’Connell; Páraic O’Neill, Cian Leahy, Jake Loughran; Evan Keogh, Edwin Wixted, Donnacha Connolly; Mark Shanahan, Michael Bateman; Conor Kirby, Tomás Connolly, Michael Fitzgerald; Shane O’Connor, Damien Kearney, Sam O’Donnell. Sub: Thomas Roche.

UNDER 15 HURLING
Kilpeacon played Granagh Ballingarry on Easter Monday at Crecora in a an U15 Hurling Challenge game. We used the opportunity to give the lads on the age some valuable game time.
We were a bit sluggish in the first half and this was to be expected as this was our first game at U15 level. We were missing a good few regulars as many families were away over Easter.
Despite this the Team selected gradually grew into the game and were 7 points to 2 down at half time.
The second half performance was much better and we kept the Granagh Ballingarry keeper busy. We scored a good goal and were unlucky to see another shot rebound wide off the up right.
The Ballingarry keeper also made one great save. We were now in control until near the end when we tired a bit as we had no subs to bring on and Granagh Ballingarry got two late goals.
The final score on a lovely evening for hurling was Granagh Ballingarry 2 – 11 Kilpeacon 1 – 7.

U14 Feile Football
We had an interesting exercise on the evening of Sunday 12th April when we played a challenge match against Div 1 side Monaleen .
We used this game to give our fringe players an opportunity to get some game time and we had a full panel available to us on the evening.
We started the game with all our fringe players from 16 to 24 playing and in fairness to them they really put up a strong battle against a strong Monaleen team.
John Bourke , Rian O Byrne , Stephen McPartlin , Darragh O Keeffe , Cillian O Brien , Fergal Egan and Michael Maher who have not had much game time to date all stood up and definitely gave us a lot of food for thought and what was great to see was the willingness and determination they showed to get stuck in.
We are blessed to have such a strong panel of 24 players all of whom are vitally important to our ongoing campaign in the feile Football.
We started the second half with the rest of the panel and held Monaleen to a single point while scoring 2 – 5 ourselves and also reintroduced a number of the subs during this half.
Our final is on Sunday 19th at 2pm in Mick Neville Park , Rathkeale and we hope to have a big support for our boys in their quest to reach the National Feile Finals which will be held in Wexford at the end of June 2015.

Crecora National school Mini 7’s football

Best of Luck to Crecora National school Mini 7’s football who having won the East Final and will now contest the County Finals on Wednesday 15th April at 1pm at na Piarsaigh GAA grounds on the Ennis Road.
Most of the players on this team either presently play with Crecora Manister GAA Club or have played in the past with the club so we wish them well in their final.
