14 Football

Kilpeacon are within one game of topping Div 2B table and reaching the Div 2 Cup Semi final .

Our final game is against Naomh Brid who are an amalgamation team of Ballybricken and Kilteely Dromkeen and promises to be a cracker of a game between first and second in the league with one point separating both teams.

Kilpeacon have surpassed all our expectations this season and are showing a promising future for Kilpeacon and Crecora Manister in years to come so hopefully we will get lots of travelling supporters to cheer on our team for this match which is on in Caherelly on Wednesday 30th July @ 7:15pm.

U16 Football – Crecora vs Croom

U16 Football:

Crecora/Manister V  Croom 19:15 July 14th 2014 in Crecora (13-a-side)

Team: Paraic O’Neill , Evan Keogh, Tomas  Connolly,  Cian Leahy, Mark Shanahan, Edwin Wixted ,  Karl Moloney,   Jay Mccilligan,  John Blake, Michael Bateman, Paul Collins , Shane O’Connell,  Robert Greer, Conor Kirby  Peter Boohan and Donnacha Connolly.

This was our first outing in the football since the Junior Cert break and things went against us from the start with the loss of our Goal keeper Paraic O’Neill after only 10 minutes with a wrist injury.

We had to put Shane O’Connell in goals instead where only a few minutes before he scored a great goal for us as a forward. Jay Mccilligan scored a point from a free our only other score in the first half but we were up against a strong breeze and a good football team in Croom who scored 3 goals and 4 points in the first half.

Our second half performance improved and scored some lovely points from play a few going close to been a goal including a penalty which just went over the bar from Jay.

Good points were scored from Paul Collins who got 2, Robert Greer also got 2, Edwin Wixted, Peter Boohan and Shane  all got 1 each.

Final score was Crecora 1 – 09 Croom 5 – 10

Massive Performances

Kilpeacon U14 Football team played Pallasgreen on Wednesday 9th July in Pallas in the second last round of the U14 Football Division 2 Championship.

Coming up against one of Limerick’s representatives in this year’s Feile football competition was always going to be a big task but our lads stepped up brilliantly and with a brilliant team effort and performance from the starting 15 and our 3 subs we emerged victorious on a score line of 10 – 5 to 5 – 5

There were massive performances throughout the team and just to mention a few:
Our full forward Eoin Feeney scored 5 goals.
All 6 of our forward line  were on the score sheet.
There was even some scores from our midfield players Timmy and Ben.
Great credit to Sam in goals who has another 3 years at this level , he stood up to lads 3 years older than him.
Chris , also U12 , who came on and scored a cracking goal.
Our back line kept pressure on the opposition and more importantly won possession from kick outs and worked the ball up the field to our forwards.

Without this hard work from the back , the scores would not have followed so it just proves that when everyone works together , results will follow.

The team lined out as follows
Sam Riordan , Thomas shanahan , Joshua Skehan Fitz , Paudie Byrnes , Colin Haigney , Ben Carew , Richard Murphy , Timmy Duggan , Conor Godfrey , Killian Scanlon , Jack Dalton , Adam Galvin , Darragh Foley , Eoin Feeney , Niall Kelly .

Subs: Chris Shanahan , Michael Maher , Philip O Toole.

So far on the Championship we’ve had 4 wins out of 5.
We are 1 point off the top of the table.
Our last game is against table toppers Naomh Bríd on Wednesday 30th July and hopefully a win will put us into the cup semi final so all to play for.

Kilpeacon is a team made up of an amalgamation between the Crecora Manister and Fedamore players.
