Minor Football
Kilpeacon got their inaugaral minor football campaign off to a great start with a win against a very strong Cluaghan side in Crecora on Friday last.
The home side dominated the first quarter with scores Conor Burke, Micheál O’Neill (1-2) and Craig McNamara but the determined physically strong Claughan side were always a threat and goaled before the break to leave the scores 1-8 to 1-2 in Kilpeacon’s favour.
Claughan had the majority of play in the second half and reduced the gap to two points but excellent defensive work eliminated goal opportunities. A strong finish with points from M.O’Neill and a brace by Liam Quirke gave the final score of 1-3 to 1-9. Panel: Eoin Enright, Evan Moloney,Tim Moloney(Capt),Liam Carey,David Macken,Cormac Flanagan,Colm Carey,Eoin Parks,Conor Burke(0-3),Thomas Keogh,Craig McNamara(0-3),Nicky Morrissey,Liam Quirke(0-2),Micheál O’Neill(1-5),Conor Griffin,Jack Lynch,Killian Rea,Darragh Griffin,David Cregan,Dean Fanning.

U-14 football
The U-14 football championship will start in May and in preparation U-14 football training resumes on Sunday evenings at 6pm at Fedamore pitch. Crecora had a strong panel of football players last year at U12 and U13 and we are looking forward to joining with Fedamore in our newly amalgamated Kilpeacon team for a successful summer for our U-14 footballers this year.

U-21 Hurling Lough Na Garra Gaels
Our U-21 hurlers Lough Na Garra Gaels are through to the South U-21 A hurling final. This game was played in bitter cold conditions and it made control and touch of the sliotar very difficult, however both teams served up an entertaining game and as the game entered the last quarter there was only two points in it. In the final ten minutes some well taken points by Eoin O’Farrell, Fergal Carey, Conor Burke and Cormac Flanagan killed off the game. Hopefully we will have more clement conditions for the South final.

We lined out as follows: Liam Quirke, Paudi Sheehan, Aaron Cregan, Colm Carey, John Quirke, Sean Vaughan , Dom O’Connor, Ryan O’Shea, Fergal Carey, Andy O’Donoghue, Eoin O’Farrell, Conor Burke, Cathal Quirke, Aaron Burke, Liam Carey, Cormac Flanagan.

Junior Hurlers
Our Junior hurlers continued preparations for their league campaign with a win over Ballybricken. U-21 hurling Lough Na Garra Gaels
Our U21 team, Lough Na Garra Gaels, continued where they left off the previous week with a 2 – 12 to 0 – 2 win over Knockainy. This game was played in atrocious conditions and huge credit is due to the young men on both teams who served up a fine competitive match. The Lough Na Garra Gaels defence conceded no goal for a 2nd week and this is due to commitment and concentration as they never stop working for each other. Conor Laffan scored some great frees and 65’s in that first half and that really gave the team a lift, the crucial goal came when Eoin Farrell ran at the Knockainey defence and hand passed to Colm Carey who gave the keeper no chance with his well-positioned shot. The killer goal in the 2nd half was replica of this with the unselfish Farrell again supplying the perfect pass , this time to Andy Donoghue who drove the sliotar to the net.

We lined out as follows: Liam Quirke, Paudi Sheehan, Aaron Cregan, Bobby Reidy, John Quirke, Sean Vaughan, Dom O’Connor, Kieran Larkin, Conor Laffan, Fergal Carey, Eoin O’Farrell, James Malone, Colm Carey, Darra Skelly, Cathal Quirke, Andy O’Donoghue, Liam Carey, Ryan O’Shea, Cian Kirby.

U-16 Football County Championship Kilpeacon v Claughaun:
For the first time Kilpeacon U-16s took to the field to play in the first round of the County Football Championship on Monday 25th March. We travelled to Childers Road to take on the locals Claughaun in this game. It took us a while to get going, we conceded some early scores in the first half and had a bit of catching up to do. We scored a couple of fine points and just before the break from some lovely passing of the ball we scored a goal. At half time we were behind on a scoreline of 1-2 to 3-6.
In the second half we started much better, marking much tighter, keeping Claughauns shots on our goals to a minimum. We made much better use of the ball, keeping more possession and from great teamwork we got some fine scores. We scored four goals in the second half. It was very close towards the end of the game with both team having the opportunity of winning, but a draw was a fair result. Final score on the night was Kilpeacon 5-4, Claughaun 3-10.

Our team : Gary O’Connell(0-1), Jake Loughran, Evan Keogh, Cian Leahy, Edwin Wixted, Tomas Connolly, Stephen o’Donovan, Damien Kearney(1-0), Richard Bateman, Michael Bateman, Barry Fitzgibbon(1-0), Jay McKillican(0-1), Shane o’Connell(1-0), John Crehan, Robert Sweeney(2-2), Eoin Kennedy, Karl Moloney, Robert Greer, Conor Kirby, Paraic o’Neill

U-14 Hurling Kilpeacon v Ballybricken:
Kilpeacon (Crecora Manister and Fedamore) played Ballybricken recently in County Feile Competition. We were without a no. Of players on the day and while Ballybricken won the match deservedly, we were competitive at all times and well done to all involved.

We played Granagh Ballingarry on Sunday 17th March in a Challenge match. We have a very young team and Granagh/Ballingarry were stronger than us in a few key areas. We had 21 players on the day and the coaches made sure that every player got some game time. The final score was 4-8 to 0-5.

Lough Na Garra Gaels U21 Hurling match win over Bruff
Our U21 team named Lough Na Garra Gaels, ( Tory Lake ) made a great start to the U 21 Championship with a win over Bruff on a score line of 0 – 17 to 0 – 14 at the weekend. The amalgamation of Crecora/Manister and Croom only came about in January and with little time to prepare for the championship this win was somewhat unexpected. The team showed a huge work ethic and a real battling spirit not usually associated with amalgamated clubs. While there is work to be done by many players on fitness and first touch this is an excellent start to the season.

The wind played a big factor in this game and we trailed at half time by 13 points to 6 having defended magnificently in that first half under wave and wave of Bruff attacks.

We scored 6 points into that stiff wind and that was the winning of the game as Bruff only managed 1 point when playing against it in the 2nd half.

We lined out as follows: Ciaran Cregan, Paudi Sheehan, Aaron Cregan, Bobby Reidy, John Quirke, Dom O’Connor, Sean Vaughan, Kieran Larkin, Conor Laffan, Fergal Carey, Eoin O’Farrell, James Malone, Colm Carey, Darra Skelly, Cathal Quirke, Liam Quirke, Andy O’Donoghue, Liam Carey, Cormac Flanagan, Aaron Burke, Ryan O’Shea, L Kennedy.
The team play Knockainy, Hospital / Herbertstown next Sunday at 4.00, all support welcome.

Kilpeacon U14 hurling challenge match vs Clonlara
We had our first u14 Hurling Match a couple weeks back as Kilpeacon (i.e. Crecora/Manister + Fedamore). The following is a brief match report:

We travelled across the Shannon to play a challenge match with Clonlara and met a very strong Clonlara team. Our squad is a very young squad and we were missing a number of players due to injury and other commitments .

Clonlara won the match well but we were very encouraged by the effort shown by all players which was rewarded with 1:5 in the second half.

Training continues on Monday nights in Catholic Institute and all u14 players in Fedamore /Crecora/Manister area are very welcome to attend.
